STAKEHOLDERS CONFERENCE TO BE HELD ON 16TH JUNE 2021
Mathira Water and Sanitation Company (MAWASCO) is a limited company wholly owned by the County Government of Nyeri. The company is the licensed water and sanitation services provider serving Mathira East and West Sub Counties and their environs as per Water Act 2016.
In preparation of Company’s 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM), the County Government of Nyeri and MAWASCO would like to sensitize to the stakeholders on the company’s performance for the last two years, challenges and future plans.
General public who are the existing or potential customers of MAWASCO are hereby notified that there will be a stakeholders’ conference at Kiamwangi Catholic Church Hall on Wednesday, 16th June 2021 at 10.30am. Only invited stakeholders as per the list available on our website: www.mawasco.co.ke shall attend the conference. Thestakeholders are identified in line with Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) approved Corporate Governance Guidelines.
The general public is notified that the stakeholders shall carry out the agenda/business of the conference on behalf of all the categories of consumers who benefit or are potential beneficiaries from MAWASCO services. Any stakeholder institution that has reason to believe that it has not been included in the list are kindly requested to apply in writing to the undersigned not later than Wednesday 9th June 2021. The County Government of Nyeri and MAWASCO have the discretion to accept or reject the application in line with the WASREB Guidelines. The conference will be held in STRICT adherence to the MOH guidelines on COVID 19 prevention.

INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS FOR PERSONS WISHING TO REPRESENT STAKEHOLDERS IN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF MATHIRA WATER AND SANITATION COMPANY
The Board of Directors comprises representatives of stakeholders identified in accordance with Corporate Governance Guidelines issued by WASREB.
The Company’s Board of Directors has two (2) vacancies for directors to be filled by representatives of the following stakeholders:
$11. One (1) Director, representing Registered Women Organizations
$12. One (1) Director, representing Special Interest Groups, Minority and Youth
This is therefore to invite applications from nominees of the above stakeholders. The applicants should enclose a letter of nomination from the stakeholder organization/institution together with their own applications and curriculum vitae (CV) including certified copies of academic, professional certificates and testimonials. The applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined below;
$1 i. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Kenya
$1 ii. Must have a minimum of seven (7) years working experience in the core professional or have run a registered own enterprise for a minimum of seven (7) years.
$1 iii. Demonstrate participation in local development initiatives
$1 iv. Experience as a change management agent
$1 v. Be a resident of the area served by the company.
$1 vi. Must meet WASREB ‘s FIT and PROPER test criteria (form can be downloaded from MAWASCO website)
$1 vii. Must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya 2010;
$1a) Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
$1b) Clearance Certificate from accredited Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
$1c) Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
$1d) Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
$1e) Clearance Certificate from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
$11. Applicants must be nominated by a Stakeholder group from the approved list of stakeholders available at MAWASCO Offices and Website.
$12. Suppliers and other trading associates of the Company are not eligible for Directorship positions of the company.
$13. Persons in current professional or social relationships with Directors of the Company cannot become Directors in the Company
$14. Nominating organizations are encouraged to nominate women for considerations to ensure the one third gender rule as required under the constitution.
The applications in sealed envelope marked “APPLICATION FOR DIRECTORSHIP IN MAWASCO” should be submitted to reach the address below on or before 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday, 23rd June 2021 or be deposited in the Tender Box at MAWASCO’s main offices at Ragati, Karatina.
